COLUMBUS, Ohio — Redshirt sophomore Kollin Moore earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors on Tuesday (Dec. 5), sharing the weekly accolade with Michigan’s Alec Pantaleo after both B1G competitors won individual titles at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 1-2).
Moore tallied a half dozen victories to claim the 197-pound championship, including three straight wins over nationally-ranked foes to conclude the competition. Moore turned on the heat when facing the fellow Top-20 grapplers, starting with a 20-7 major decision over Wisconsin’s 18th-ranked Hunter Ritter in the Quarterfinals. He then cracked double digit points again with a 10-4 Semifinals triumph over No. 9 Matt Williams (Cal State Bakersfield). The exclamation point came in the Finals, however, when Moore executed a smooth fireman’s carry transitioning into a headlock to pin No. 2 Jared Haught in the first period (1:52) in a battle of No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the country. Moore’s six wins and bonus points helped Ohio State secure its second straight CKLVI team championships despite missing three starters from the lineup.

This marks the second Buckeye to grab B1G Wrestler of the Week laurels through the first five weeks of the season after Te’Shan Campbell did so on Nov. 14. Ironically, the only two `co’ distinctions this season have included a Buckeye and a Wolverine sharing honors.
