No. 13 Men’s Basketball (9-1; 0-0 Big Ten)

The Buckeyes improved to 9-0 after beating UNC Asheville, 83-59, Dec. 22 in Value City Arena. Freshman B.J. Mullens posted a season high 19 points in the win and had a career-high three blocks. Junior Kyle Madsen and freshman William Buford made their first career starts for the Scarlet and Gray.
Ohio State’s 14-game win streak, the nation’s best, was snapped Dec. 27 when it dropped a 76-48 decision to West Virginia in Value City Arena.
Sophomore Evan Turner recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. He owns all five of the Buckeyes’ double doubles this season.
Junior guard Jeremie Simmons posted a career-high 11 points. Simmons, along with Buford, led all Buckeye scorers.

Senior Marcus Freeman is a finalist for the Bobby Bowden Award. The award recognizes the Division 1A football player who epitomizes the student-athlete who conducts himself as a faith model in the community, in the classroom and on the field.
