PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference office announced the weekly women’s basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday. Below are this week’s honorees:
Freshman of the Week:
Ashley Adams, Ohio State
6-5, C, Siloam Springs, Ark./Siloam Springs
Adams had a breakout week as the Buckeyes picked up two more wins last week. She shot 80 percent (12-of-15) from the floor while averaging 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks to earn Big Ten freshman of the week honors for the first time. In the win at Illinois, the freshman came off the bench and filled the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, five blocks, four assists and three steals. She followed that effort with a 16-point outing vs. No. 18 Iowa Monday, contributing seven rebounds and two steals in the Buckeye victory.
