COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dominique Alexander, a sophomore midfielder on the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, has been named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Alexander had seven points, with four goals and three assists, in two games combined last week.
Alexander had a hat trick in the Buckeyes’ 11-7 win over Lehigh, marking his first goals of the year. He twice gave Ohio State the lead against the Mountain Hawks, opening the scoring and then putting the Buckeyes ahead, 4-3, in the second quarter.
The Baldwin, N.Y., native led the squad with a career-high three assists and personal-high tying four points at nationally-ranked Albany, an 11-9 loss Saturday afternoon.
In the two games combined Alexander had six groundballs, did not have a turnover and had one caused turnover.
This is the second league weekly honor for Alexander, who picked up ECAC Rookie of the Week accolades May 3, 2010. He has played in 21 games for the Scarlet and Gray, starting 20, and has 15 goals, 12 assists and 27 points.
Alexander and the No. 20 Buckeyes (5-2) return to action at No. 2 Virginia (6-1) at 3 p.m. Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.
