WILMETTE, Ill. – Lina Aguillon, a junior on the Ohio State women’s golf team, has put herself in contention for medalist honors at the Windy City Collegiate. The native Columbian shot 3-under during 36 continuous holes on Day One. Following scores of 70-71, Aguillon is in third place and trails the tournament leader by four strokes entering Tuesday’s final round.
Aguillon, playing as an individual, dropped in one of two eagles in the entire event on Monday. She recorded eight birdies as well, tied for the second most in the field. Teammate Jan Chanpalangsri match her eight birdies, pacing the OSU lineup at 6-over (t-26th). Overall, the Buckeyes are tied for 12th place in the team standings.
Chanpalangsri shaved two strokes off her opening round 76 to card a 74 in the second trip around the track. Sophomore Zoe-Beth Brake, competing in her first tournament this season, is close behind at 8-over (72-80) and tied for 37th place. Fellow sophomores Katja Pogacar (75-78) and Jessica Porvasnik (77-79) own a piece of 46th and 57th place, respectively. Claudia Lim rounded out the Buckeye lineup, contributing a 78 to the team tally in round two after opening with a 79. She is tied for 62nd place with 18 holes to go.
