COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State head women’s golf coach Therese Hession finalized the 2014-15 playing schedule this week. The Buckeyes are slated to compete in 10 regular season tournaments before getting postseason action started at the Big Ten Championships April 24-26.
Golfweek’s 2014 National Coach of the Year and her squad open up the ’14-15 campaign in Big Ten country, heading to the Chip-N-Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. (Sept. 8-9) before some East/West Match Play in Ann Arbor, Mich., Sept. 20-22. Ohio State remains inside the B1G borders for its next tourney, returning to Chicago’s Windy City Collegiate (Oct. 6-7). The fall season then wraps up Oct. 24-26 with a trip south to Wilmington, N.C., for the Landfall Tradition.
After a Feb. 1 Alumni Match at a location to be determined, the spring semester’s competition schedule gets rolling with the first of two OSU-hosted events. Teams from across the land will trek to Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., to vie for the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge from Feb. 8-10 as Ohio State serves as tournament host.
Next up is the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 22-23) where Ohio State looks to defend its title. Last season, the Buckeyes marched into Peoria, Ariz., and posted a three-round total of 26-under 838 to crush the program’s 54-hole record previously set in May 2005 by 18 strokes.
Another jaunt to Arizona is on the docket in March, sandwiched between two flights down to Florida. Ohio State’s next three tournaments are the Lady Gator Invitational (March 6-8, Gainesville, Fla.), Mountain View Collegiate (March 20-21, Tucson, Ariz.) and Web.com Collegiate (March 30-31, Jacksonville, Fla.).
Ohio State puts a bow on the regular season Apr. 18-19 hosting the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on the Scarlet Course.
The Buckeyes will go in search of their 16th Big Ten title Apr. 24-26 in Indianapolis. NCAA Regional appearance number 26 will be on the line May 7-9 and the newly-formatted NCAA Championship, which now includess match play, is slated for May 22-27 in Bradenton, Fla.
