#2 Michigan State – 4, #4 Northwestern – 1

Rolf van de Kerkhof Michigan State Head Coach
On the game and advancing in the tournament
“At the beginning of the season, we started out strong and have grown so much over the year. Now, the Big Ten Championship is a new season for us. I am pleased with how we played. We executed well and broke the Northwestern defense early. In the second half, we continued to execute and maintain possession. In this tournament, we want to perform our best and stick to our game plan, regardless of who we play next.”

Kelly McCollum Northwestern Head Coach
On the game
“Michigan State played great today. They had a consistent 70 minutes of play and we couldn’t execute our game plan in the first half. We battled in the second half, but we couldn’t make up for it. Michigan State is a strong team and is going to be a threat in this tournament.”
