CAMP SESSIONS
PITCHING: DRILLS & FUNDAMENTALS — This session will stress the fundamentals of throwing fastpitch. Instruction will be geared toward increasing speed and gaining control of the fastball. Instruction on the change-up pitch will also be included along with several different grips and styles.

Catchers are recommended but not required.

PITCHING: ADVANCED MOVEMENT — This session is targeted toward pitchers that want to build their pitching repertoire. Several different grips and techniques of throwing the drop ball, curve ball, change-up, screwball, and rise ball will be presented. The purpose and strategy of each pitch will be discussed.

Catchers are recommended but not required.

CATCHING — This session will focus on the proper defensive techniques of the catching position. Catchers will receive instruction on stance, blocking balls, throwing to bases, pop-ups, signal calling, and knowledge of the strike zone rules. Game defensive strategy will also be discussed.

HITTING — This session will focus on the proper fastpitch hitting technique. Athletes will have a chance to practice the proper hitting techniques through various drills including t-work, soft toss, hitting machines, etc. Bunting and slapping will be instructed.

FIELDING— This session will focus on the proper defensive techniques of the infield and outfield positions. Instruction for all fielders will include throwing, fielding, and position responsibilities. Team defensive strategy and play making will also be discussed. Indicate what one position you want on the registration from. There will be NO instruction for the pitching and catching positions in this session.

CAMP FEES
All skill sessions are $50. All lectures are $10. Lectures are free if at least two skill sessions are attended.

CAMP INFORMATION
EQUIPMENT — Pitchers must bring their own balls and catchers must supply their own protective equipment. Players attending a hitting session need to bring their own bat and helmet. Please label all equipment!

ACCOMMODATIONS — Hotel arrangements have been arranged in advance for all out of town participants. The Super 8 on Olentangy River Road is holding a limited number of rooms for $45 per night until February 7th. Rooms can be obtained by calling (614) 261-7141and asking for “Ohio State Softball Camps” rooms.

SPECTATOR FEE — All coaches, parents, family members and catchers accompanying student-athletes or players will be required to pay $5 to gain access to the indoor facility as part of a spectator fee and for insurance purposes.

*The cost for attending one lecture is $10 for all athletes, coaches, parents, friends, and family members. Athletes signed up for two or more sessions during the weekend, may attend both lectures for free. Parents of those participating athletes also may attend at no charge.
